THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR

There are many reasons that could produce the need for determination of the value of an industrial installation. Among these are the following: sale, acquisition, break-up, merger, change of stockholders, financing, etc.

The Various Types of Value

The value of an asset is not a single, unique number because an asset’s value can be influenced by the end use.  Other factors, such as the type of use and the operating environment, can also influence the value of the asset.

In response to the needs mentioned above, in the field of value estimation there are several types of value that can be enumerated for different asset categories such as machinery, industrial plants, assembly facilities and associated installations:

Reconstruction Cost New
Replacement Cost New
Depreciated Value
Value in Current Use
Liquidation Value

  2. Determination of Residual Value
  3. Inventory of stores and production assets
  4. Product coding and organization of stocks
  5. Physical and accounting reconciliation of inventories
  6. Revaluation of production stock
  7. Analysis of inventory with respect to obsolescence, turnover and shortages
  8. Management procedures for warehouses
  9. Analysis of industrial production efficiency
    1. Delivery lines of semi-finished goods
    2. Feeds for production lines
    3. Plant layout
    4. Optimization of production machinery and plant
    5. Qualitative and quantitative optimization of work stations and personnel

To obtain the maximum yield from an industrial activity, it is essential that the equipment, machine layout, positions of intermediate production stocks and the feeds for the production lines be in harmony with each other.  A plant that is not optimized or that has incorrect placement of some machines within the production cycle can have inefficiencies that express themselves in reduced throughput.
